2012 Winter Meeting

New Board Members, Max 8 Teams Per Night, Start Times Discussed

With greater emphasis being placed on the earlier-than-usual Winter Meeting this year, our association responded strongly.  Approximately 20 people showed up at IDK on Sunday, January 29th to help shape the direction of our league.

One of the more significant changes to the meeting agendas was moving the voting for board members up to the earlier of the two preseason meetings so that any new members would have a chance to begin contributing long before the new season is scheduled to begin.  As a result, we welcome Gary Schmidt and Jodi Lindbo to the board.  They will replace Ryan Mikkleson (who did an outstanding job in the demanding role of Secretary/Treasurer) and RC Courtright (who will remain involved maintaining this web site).

As for the games themselves, every effort will be made this season to limit each league night to no more than 8 teams.  Due largely to umpiring concerns on the Thursday and newly-added Tuesday night leagues last season, Monday was stuck with 10 teams.  This resulted in awkward scheduling and difficult rescheduling of postponed games.  A by-product of that was the move of start times up to 6:30 to accommodate all late contests that needed to be played.  That was also addressed at the meeting and will be changed back to 7:00 in 2012.

The Spring Meeting is set for Sunday, April 1st at 3:00 p.m. and will also be located at IDK Bar & Grill.
